Nel 1966, pochi mesi prima dell’inizio dei Mondiali di calcio d’Inghilterra, la Coppa Rimet sparì misteriosamente. Dopo un po’, i “rapitori” si fecero vivi chiedendo un riscatto e misero a repentaglio lo svolgimento del torneo. 
Mentre Scotland Yard si disperava nel tentativo di ritrovarla, la Coppa riapparve nel modo più singolare possibile: il cane Pickles, un meticcio che stava facendo una passeggiata al parco assieme al padrone, la ritrova dietro la ruota di una macchina. Il cagnolino diventò una vera celebrità, rendendo la storia della Coppa Rimet ancora più indimenticabile.
Il dipinto è dedicato a Pickles e alla sua incredibile storia.

In 1966, just a few months before the FIFA World Cup of England, the Rimet Trophy mysteriously disappeared. After a while, the “kidnappers” demanded a ransom and the entire tournament was at risk. 
While Scotland Yard was desperately searching for it, The Rimet Trophy magically reappeared in the most curious way: The dog Pickles found it behind a car wheel while strolling with his master. The dog become a celebrity in England and abroad, and made the history of the Rimet Trophy even more unique. 
This painting is an homage to the dog and to such a curious story.
