VULNERASTI COR MEUM VERBO TUO

15 JUNE 2024

It's an artwork-pilgrimage, realized in my studio and completed during the decennial celebrations in honour of the Blessed Antonio Patrizi from Monticiano (SI), Italy.

The painting is realized with egg tempera, natural pygments and 22 carat gold on linden board. It depicts a rendition of the Blessed Antonio Patrizi, inspired by his mummified body, preserved in Monticiano Saint Agostino Church, which shows a good conservation of his facial features. Among the pygments I used, there are two of them realized using the grounds found near Camerata Hermitage, wher Blessed Antonio Patrizi spent the last days of his life. The artwork has been completed the 15th June 2024 thanks to a pilgrimage I made from Scalvaia to Camerata (almost 12 km among the woods), where I carried the artwork on my back. The artwork has been revealed to other pilgrims who came to Camerata and, the following day, has been exhibited in Saint Agostino Church in Monticiano, where it is still displayed.
